Crazy is the New Normal

There was a time, not long ago, when most of my life was a lie.  I cloaked myself in corporate clothes, all buttoned up and acceptable.  I spoke only of tangible, earth bound matters and if anything came up that was slightly “out there”, I would comment with just the appropriate amount of disdain in my voice.

I had perfected my persona.  I was “Normal”.

Little did the people in my world know that I had a big secret.  I was nowhere near “Normal”.  In fact, I was crazy as a spoon, living in a closet of my own making, afraid to share my true self for fear of judgment.

Beneath my mild mannered exterior raged an awakening being.  Weird stuff was happening on a regular basis and while I found it all to be intriguing and life changing, I was afraid to tell anyone else about it.  What would they think if I just blurted stuff out?

“Hi, I’m Brenda.  I see dead people.”  Or “Hello, nice to meet you.  Did you know you have 3 Angels hovering around you and one is trying to unfold your wings?”  Or how about: “You were a Egyptian slave in a past life and are still working on releasing yourself from those blocks.”  No biggie.  I’ll just share my visions then pack a bag for my trip to the loony bin.

For a few years I kept most of the weird stuff to myself, quietly learning and growing with just a few people in the loop.  My American Husband, my best friend and my daughter to be specific.  I trusted them to love me, no matter what.  And of course, they did.

I took classes, learned to develop my skills.  I flew to New York to spend a week learning about Past Life Regression with Dr. Brian Weiss and told everyone I was going on a Yoga Retreat.  Liar Liar Pants On Fire.  That was me.

I finally began to share because I felt compelled to be myself.  But, true confessions:  the first few times sneaking out of the closet, I published and shared under another name.  Funny thing is that I got such a warm, heartfelt response, I actually got jealous of fake me and decided to let real me take over.

I published my first blog a few years back.  It was an account of my first past life experience.  I remember hitting the Publish button, then having a panic attack.  My American Husband talked me down, convincing me not to delete the whole thing, and from that moment on I began to inch my way out of the Spiritual Closet.

Now that I am out, I take huge delight in helping others to own their own brand of “crazy”.  With classes, workshops, blogs and facebook, we are finding each other, and as the community grows, we are becoming braver, sharing our visions and gifts.  Now it is rare to come upon anyone who doesn’t share something magical… some experience or belief… within the first few minutes of talking.  It’s as if by being authentic and letting it all hang out, others are given permission to do the same.

Crazy is the new normal.

Who would have guessed it?  And life is so much more fun since leaving the confines of the closet.  I highly recommend it.  Freeing myself to be who I am, authentically, and trusting that sharing my truth will open more doors than it closes, has changed my life on every level.  New friends, new experiences, a vaster understanding of the magic of life, plus never having to wear uncomfortable shoes… it’s all magnificent.

So bare your soles, and your souls.  Kick off the cloak of who you think you should be and become who you are.  We are all just waiting to welcome you to the fold.

Your Halo-Scopes for July 5 to 11, 2015

For the beginning of the week, Sunday and Monday:

Queen of Ariel

Summer time, and the living is easy. During the beginning of the week we have a rare opportunity to dwell in the present moment and really just chillax. All of our “shoulds” are set aside for a few days as we spend some time doing whatever we truly want to do. We are encouraged to enjoy the company of friends and family and are given the opportunity now to do that very thing. Throw some food in the picnic basket and head out to someplace beautiful. Bask in the glory that IS summer in British Columbia.

For the middle of the week, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday:

Peace

This is a time of great transformation on earth and for each of us personally. During mid week we begin to really move forward on our new, exciting adventure. It is a time of personal evolution. We are coming into our own and our soul purpose is becoming more and more clear. To facilitate the fastest and easiest transformation, allow yourself to let go of the outcome and trust that everything is happening as it should. It is easier than we may think, to transform from a caterpillar into a butterfly. Peace, babies.

For the weekend, Friday and Saturday:

Ten of Michael

Free at last! Freedom is ours at last! By the weekend we clearly see our new opportunities and are ready to put the past behind us. New avenues for happiness begin to present themselves and we are ready to take this thing to the next level. Moving on can sometimes bring a melancholy or sadness. Honor those feelings, but try not to dwell. Bigger, better, brighter times are ahead for us. Prepare to be amazed.

This week’s Halo-Scopes were inspired by the Archangel Power Tarot Deck by Doreen Virtue and Radleigh Valentine.

Your Halo-Scopes for the Week of May 3 – 9, 2015 as originally posted on e-Know

At the Heart of this week’s reading:

3 of Michael

There is a saying that time wounds all heals… er… I mean time heals all wounds. This week we are guided to release judgment about the past and let go of any resentments or bitterness we may be holding onto. Remember that we are all human and we all make mistakes. What’s done is done and it is time to stop berating people (ourselves included) for events gone by. Let bygones be bygone. We are learning life’s important lessons and when we know better we do better.

Helping us is:

4 of Michael

Forgive me for what I said when I was hungry and tired. When life is busy and small stresses show up it is so much easier to handle them when we have had enough to eat and are rested. Taking care of ourselves is going to be essential during this emotional week. Old hurts show up to taunt us and we need to fortify ourselves so that our buttons can’t be pushed. It is so much easier not to sweat the small stuff when we’ve had a good night’s sleep and a healthy breakfast. Bonus points for taking the time to meditate. (And keep in mind: it’s all small stuff).

And our Challenger comes to us as:

6 of Gabriel:

We are doing the best that we can. During challenging times we can tend to beat ourselves up. Take a moment to remember that we are really 50 shades of awesome and that a few little hiccups should have no power over us. We must be kind and gentle with ourselves and with others, celebrate all of the steps we’ve taken and lessons we’ve learned, and be happy for all of the crazy ups and downs in life. Contrast is part of this earth school and learning to enjoy the contrast is just another lesson we are here to learn.

This week’s Halo-Scopes were inspired by the Archangel Power Tarot Deck by Doreen Virtue and Radleigh Valentine.

Angels of Another Kind

WyattJoJo33

When the ones we love leave us for a time and wait on the other side of the veil, I wonder…. If they could come back for a visit, maybe a dozen years long, wrapped up in fur and unconditional love, wouldn’t they do that very thing?

Wouldn’t they sit on our laps and patiently wait for our attention?

Wouldn’t they love us unconditionally and bring comfort when we need it most.

And don’t you think, the ones we love might want to frolic and play with us, with greater abandon than they could while walking on two feet.

We sometimes recognize them when we see them.  The softness in their gaze and the remembered embrace, it reaches out to us and we fall instantly in love.  We don’t need words or long explanations.  We just need to spend a little more time together before we can spend eternity.

Burn Baby Burn

Burning-Bush-Mosaic-II_art

“Hey”.

“Good morrow, Bro”.

“Did you hear about Moses?”

“Who?  That serious guy?  Long beard?  Naw.  What’s up?”

“He claims some bush burst into flames then started talking to him.”

“Shut up.  What a load of yak crap.”

“Right?”

“Dude, did he drink the bong water?”

“Dude, he definitely drank the bong water.”

And so it goes.  This fairly historically accurate depiction of what must have been, is a scene as old as time.  I know this scenario very well, from both sides.  For the first few decades of my life I was quick to have conversations very much like it about anybody who had the audacity to be different.  Seriously, what kind of woo woo nonsense were they on about?  Are they so out of touch with reality??  Don’t they know they look like fools?

And then I smelled something burning.

Okay, relax.  Put away the pitchforks and drop the stones.  I am in no way correlating myself to Moses.  I have no beard, I have never knowingly parted any body of water and I have not< yet> set my people free.  Nope.  Nothing in common at all.

Except that burning bush.

I speak in metaphors of course.  My burning bush came in the subtler way of whispers and signs.  But it most certainly came.  It all began with the death of a dear friend, quite suddenly in my arms.  Apparently trauma has a way of breaking us open and once that happens we can often experience something that is both devastating and beautiful.  You see, we expand where we are cracked and if we don’t fall apart, our light begins to shine out of the places where we have been broken open.

And as our lights grow brighter we become aware of the magic.  It’s been there all along but we couldn’t see it with our judgy, human eyes.  But now that we have better illumination we can see the sparkly bits and hear the jingly sounds.  We realize buddy Bill Shakespeare was right when he so eloquently said that “there are more things on heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy”.

That’s when we start to bloom.  And grow. Our light gets ever brighter and we can no longer pretend not to see the unseen.  It becomes who we are and we are compelled to share what we have learned, despite the fact that we will likely become the fodder of gossips and butt of jokes.  It doesn’t matter to us what anybody thinks, because out paradigm has been shifted and we have a new version of the truth.

And if we follow the calling of this new paradigm, we do things like take Past Life Regression workshops, and Reiki classes.  We even start giving Angel Card Readings …. in public!

My Dad told me that in the not too distant past I would have been burned at the stake for what I believe and practice.  He mentioned that right before asking me to do some of my “witchy stuff” on his sore leg.  In case you might be wondering the Reiki worked, and though he was never a doubter, Dad came a bit closer to being a believer in that unseen force.

The burning bush comes to different people in different ways.  Nobody was more surprised than I was when I felt compelled to start working with the Angels.  Buttoned up, corporate, serious Brenda was shocked.  But I have learned that listening to the whispers is infinitely easier than getting the divine kick in the butt that comes when we ignore what calls us.   The message I’ve been getting seems to be a universal one and is simply this:  Be authentic.  No more hiding behind the mask you think society/family/friends expect you to wear.  Whatever that is and whoever you are, be that.  Because you are enough just as you are.  Strip away the trappings and be bravely, uniquely, you.

I share what I have learned openly and with love.  Those who get it, get it.  Those who don’t will continue to believe that I drank the bong water.  And that’s okay.  Because more and more I am receiving those tender, private messages from people quietly inching out of their own spiritual closet.  We chat about all of those things they don’t feel safe telling anyone else just yet.  And they let me know that by putting my crazy on display I have helped them to know they aren’t alone.  For that I am infinitely grateful. For that I will proudly let my freak flag fly.

Come, Come Whoever You Are

images7ZELHDON

Come, come, whoever you are.

Wanderer, worshipper, lover of leaving.

It doesn’t matter.

Ours is not a caravan of despair.

Come, even if you have broken your vows a thousand times.

3 Keys to a Fully Abundant Life

We all want what we want when we want it.  We don’t want to wait and we don’t want to settle.  So why is it, when we all have this handy dandy Law of Attraction at our disposal, that we seem to get ourselves into situations that surprise us with their level of suckiness?

How do these bad things happen to us?   We are nice people!  We are spiritually enlightened, dammit!  And we’ve read all of the books!

And yet, we still manage to paint ourselves into some tricky corners with our manifesting.  We use our visualizations and intentions to create these situations for ourselves and what we had hoped would bring  the keys to our kingdom brings the keys to our prison cell instead.  And those keys to our freedom are just ever so slightly out of reach.

So how do we get ourselves back on track?  What is the way to freedom?

Funny, I asked myself that very question this morning.  Here’s the answer that came to me in what I can only describe as a rush if divine inspiration that had me trying to type with one hand while struggling into a pair of tights with the other.  Wouldn’t want to be late for my dream job now, would I?  (does this font make me look sarcastic?)

1.)  The Key to Clear Intention

Getting really clear about what you want is a bit tricky.  See, it’s important to separate the thing from the feeling that you are seeking in the having of the thing.  For instance, if you want to get yourself a new job, instead of doing this:

I want to work at Ain’t It Great To Be Alive boutique, because it will be way more fun, fulfilling and people are nicer there.

Try this instead:

 ·         I want a new job because this job is not fulfilling and my boss is an ass-hat.

·         I want a new job that lets me be more creative

·         I want a new job that is more fun

·         I want to have more freedom

·         I want to be as excited waking up on Monday morning as I am waking up on Saturday.  I want every day to feel as full of promise as the weekend does.

Boil it down to what feeling you are seeking, then set your intention around that.

I intend to have a job that brings as much excitement and promise to each work day as I feel on my weekends.

Wow, now doesn’t that sound better?  Because what if you put all of your manifesting mojo into getting the job at Ain’t It Great To Be Alive boutique, only to find that it is the 10th level of hell and the people who work there are soul sucking minions who have pink hair and wear way too much perfume?  Because that can happen.  Trust me on this one.

Boil it down.  Let go of the attachment to details so that you can clearly identify the feeling experience you are hoping to manifest, and then set your intention on that.  The details are far better left to the Experts.

<Looks pointedly at the sky.  Receives celestial thumbs up>  Phew!

2.)  The Key to Appreciation

The weather outside is dark and gloomy.  We drive to work in the dark, go home in the dark, and in between we work in  small, fluorescent caves  while people all around go about their business, all the while singing “Look down, look down, don’t look him in the eye…”  Winter has been here for at least 18 months, and there are still two months to go.  We long to see something green, or hear a bird sing.

And now we are supposed to find stuff to appreciate?  How?  Sure it’s easy to be grateful when things are great.  It’s when we are stuck in that proverbial corner that we really need to amp up the appreciation.  We need to dig deep people.  We can do this thing.

Here.  I’ll start.

·         Okay.  The sunrise was really red and pretty this morning, way off in the distance.  Kind of made me feel hopeful.  I appreciate the beauty of that moment.

Hmm.  What else?  This shouldn’t be so difficult, should it?  I must be seeing things through wintery goggles.  When all else fails I turn to food, for which I am unapologetically passionate.

·         The Hot Mess Pasta from the Pedal And Tap Restaurant was fantastic last night… and there are leftovers in the fridge for lunch.  Yes!  Appreciate!!

·         I found Zevia in our local big box store for 3.99 a six pack.  Cheap and healthy soda?  Yes!  Appreciate!!

·         I just found a peanut butter cup chocolate bar (FULL SIZED) that I had hidden in my desk a few weeks ago.  Oh YES!! APPRECIATE!!!

·      And Friday is only three days away.  Fridays is donut day.  Mmmmm Appreciate.

The times when it is most challenging to find those things to appreciate are the times when it is most important that we do.  There is no other way out of that prison.  We can whine and complain, berate and bitch all we want, and while that can feel really, really (extremely) satisfying in the moment, it will do nothing but reinforce our cage bars.

Appreciate, appreciate, appreciate.  Then do it a bit more.  Fake it until we make it if we need to.  And remember, chocolate always helps.  So does wine.

3.)  The Key to Letting Go.

Forgive me in advance for the earworm I am about to gift many of you.  But our next step is simply:

Let it go.

That’s right.

Let it go.

Every shred of doubt, every fear, every need to control the outcome, every compulsion to ask over and over and over again for the same thing, every belief we hold that tells us we need to deserve it,  every block we have to receiving and even every wistful hope and dream that feels right, but that keeps the key just out of our reach.  All of it.  Let. It. Go.

Our job now is to trust that the Universe will provide.  It will all happen in the perfect way and at the perfect time.  Nothing that we can plan will come close to the magnificence that the Divine has in store for us.  And all we need to do?  That’s right.  Let it go.

Catchy little tune, isn’t it?

A fully abundant life is the stuff that dreams are made of.  Whatever that looks like for you, it is my hope and prayer that you find it.  And just to be on the safe side, remember that it never hurts to add these few magic words to any intention you make:

This or something better in accordance with the highest good for all.

And so it is.

<Looks skyward.   Celestial high fives all around.>

Great Success!
